Stroke is the leading cause of disability and the second major cause of mortality worldwide. However, almost all strokes could be prevented.
World Stroke Day is observed every year on October 29. The day was established by the World Stroke Organization as an opportunity to increase awareness of the seriousness of stroke and discuss the ways to decrease the burden of this life-threatening medical condition by means of increased public awareness of its risk factors and signs.
